In September 2019, the number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Central Sulawesi reached 404.03 thousand people (13.18 percent), a decrease of 6.3 thousand people compared to the conditions in March 2019 which of 410.36 thousand people (13.48 percent).
The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2019 was 9.32 percent down to 8.90 percent in September 2019. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2019 was 15.26 percent down to 15.01 percent in September 2019.
During the period March 2019-September 2019, the number of poor people in urban areas decreased by 3.3 thousand people (from 84.74 thousand people in March 2019 to 81.46 thousand people in September 2019), while in rural areas decreased by 3, 1 thousand people (from 325.62 thousand people in March 2019 to 322.57 thousand people in September 2019).
The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in September 2019 was recorded at 76.65 percent. Conditions improved compared to March 2019 which was 76.35 percent.
The types of food commodities that have a major influence on the value of the Poverty Line in urban and rural areas, are rice, filter clove cigarettes, cobs / tuna / skipjack, wet cakes, granulated sugar,
purebred chicken eggs, cayenne pepper, instant noodles, and shallots. Meanwhile, for non-food commodities, the biggest effect is the cost of housing, gasoline, electricity, education, and toiletries
